EUROVISION 2008 TOP 5 PREDICTION COMPETITION

It's time to announce the result of this year's Top 5 prediction contest. Between midnight on April 9th and midnight on May 4th "All Kinds Of Everything" visitors were asked for their predictions listing the five songs that they thought would take the top positions in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest.

There were almost two hundred entries from all over the world and the method of scoring this year's competition was as follows;

The song you predict to be 1st :  Points scored in the final multiplied by 5
The song you predict to be 2nd :  Points scored in the final multiplied by 4
The song you predict to be 3rd :  Points scored in the final multiplied by 3
The song you predict to be 4th :  Points scored in the final multiplied by 2
The song you predict to be 5th :  Points scored in the final with no multiplier

Place Entry Name Country Total The five totals will then added together to give a final score for each entry. On the left you can see the Top 20 predictions.

The prize of this year's treble DVD of the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest (in shops in Ireland on June 20th) is heading to Bolivia and we say "congratulations" to Willan Suaraz Parada who clocked up an impressive 3,418 points.

Willan was the only person to have the countries that finished in the Top 5 in Belgrade in their Top 5 prediction. Willan had a Top 5 prediction of 1st; Ukraine (finished 2nd in Belgrade) 2nd; Greece (3rd), 3rd; Russia (1st), 4th; Armenia (4th), 5th; Norway (5th). This was a remarkably accurate prediction.

With Russia being the bookmakers' favourite and the top country in our prediction table, both in terms of predictions of it being the winner and in overall points, the victory of Dima Bilan in Belgrade was not a huge surprise. Ukraine was 3rd on our prediction table and Greece was seventh. The countries which did worst compared with the predictions were Switzerland and Ireland both of which finished in the Top 10 prediction table but both failed to qualify for the final and earrned zero points for people who had predicted they would finish in the Top 5.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the competition and look out for more opportunities to win Eurovision related goodies on future "All Kinds Of Everything" competitions.
