SELECTION
As far back as
September, Bulgarian broadcaster BNT, were
making plans to replace their normal
multi-artist national final, with a new
selection process. A month later, it was
confirmed that for the first time, Bulgaria has
chosen its Eurovision performer internally and
that local star Miro (Miroslav Kostadinov) would
represent the country in Oslo. Miro performed
five songs in a special presentation show,
screened on February 7th and for the following
weeks these were layed on local radio. The
winning song was chosen at the Bulgarian
national final which was held on February 28th
at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia and
hosted by Dragomir Draganov. Miro again sang all
the songs and the winner was chosen by
televoting. The clear winner, taking almost 50%
of the votes was "Angel Si Ti" (You Are an
Angel", which Miro had also written and
composed.

specially composed for him for a national final,
and Miro presented 5 of them in a televised show
on the 28th of February where his self-composed
entry Angel Si Ti proved to be the most popular
and was elected as Bulgaria's entry for Europe's
favourite TV show.
REACTION
"Angel Si Ti" was always the favourite song to
represent Bulgaria in Oslo and Miro has done
several international appearances to promote the
song and has made one of the best promotional
videos of the year. The song has found a place in the lower
middle section of the rankings, based on
internet polls and bookmakers. Bulgaria is not
among the favourites to qualify from the second
semi-final, and can be backed at 300/1 to win
the contest.
